Which DirectX runtime for 64bit Win 7 ?

Which DirectX Runtime version do I need for 64bit Win 7 Pro ?

Is this the same as for 32bit Win 7 ?

I read somewhere that DirectX 9 + 10 do only support max WinXP but not Win7.
    Is this true?

From where can I download the necessary DirectX runtime?

How can I find out the current DirectX version on my local system?

#5 and #6 here answer most of those,

    Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues

There is only one installer and it will install both 32 bit and 64 bit files on a 64 bit system.

Just download the Web Installer and let it pick the correct packs you need.

That and the web installer can be hit and miss whether it works most of the time. Also if you have never installed it better with the full (it's only around 95 MB), it will install most of it anyway, not just a few files here and there.
