Just Moved to Win7

Hi all. I just moved from Win Vista to this Win 7. So far so good...

But, one feature was taken out of Win 7; you could had created any toolbars you wanted in my old Vista.

I dragged the "Computer" icon on my desktop, to a left edge of the screen, and it created a toolbar of "Computer" on the side of the screen; this feature was taken out of Win 7 for some reason. I really enjoyed a sidebar of my attached drives and cards. So I want to get something like that. Any help??

Thank You

P.S. For now I created "SOMETHING" like that on my taskbar.

Maybe that is as good as it gets??

Thank You folks!!

Have you tried RocketDock? I use it on XP, Vista64 and W7. You can put shortcuts to just about anything on it. That way I have similar interface on all 3 OS. Don't have to think which Windows I'm on.

Actually, you can create a new toolbar on the Windows 7 Desktop. Take a look at this instructional video Toolbars - How to Create and Use - Windows 7 and Vista (I've watched it and it's very good.)

Also, in addition to RocketDock that MilesAhead mentioned, here's some additional third party apps you can use:

For SuperBar I use Standalone Stacks 2. It uses the same stacks library as RocketDock. I have a folder with subfolders of categorized apps that I used as a toolbar for awhile. What I didn't like is it required unfolding the folders as menus with mouse hover. Way too slow and tedious. I moved it to Documents to keep my desktop clean. Then dragged each subfolder onto RocketDock. I set each folder with a custom icon to make the category obvious. (Obvious to me anyway. The teal square with the white F is my site icon to symbolize software development tools.)

Having built a new Win7x64 computer with 1x SSD and 2x Seagate HDDs I then moved 3 nearly identical WD drives from my old Win XP machine to the new one. However although they all show up in device manager and system information only one appears in Disk Management & Windows Explorer. The drives...

Moved OS to ssd, now Win7 running from both drives!
Win 7 Home Premium 64bit came pre-installed on my Dad's HP. He bought an OCZ Vertex 4 SATA III 128 Gb ssd to run the OS on. HP does not provide a Windows install disk, and can't download it from Microsoft without buying another copy of Win 7. We burned the recovery disks (4 DVD's) from the...

Moved ? to Where?
Currently I can see three posts that say Moved: There is no indication as to where they were moved. How about including that info when it is deemed appropriate to "move" a post?
