    dblizz - have you checked which drivers you're using for your NIC? If you upgraded from the WDDM drivers to your OEM drivers, try reverting; if you *haven't* upgraded from WDDM drivers to OEM drivers, try doing that.

    NDIS should be around for many NICs, but OEM drivers *may* not include them as it is considered (erroneously) as legacy....

    Have a Broadcom NetXtreme. Upgraded from HP a bit ago. Same thing. My wireless nic driver is dated 10/08....so I'm not worried about that one. Not sure what could be trying to use NDIS.sys.

    Yet, you should be - perhaps the included NDIS driver with that update is corrupted - try rolling back the drive to the W7 default driver and see if the VPN works (this is admittedly a long shot - but I am hoping that the that will replace your NDIS with a default copy as well. If not, I may just copy mine and send it over to ya....oh, wait, I have upgraded to my nVidia Ethernet drivers also, so that NDIS may not work for you....*if*, of course, they are not using standard generic NDIS drivers to begin with - which is what I suspect is happening here.)

    Got it working. Here's what I had to do. Rollback my wireless driver. put another random ndis.sys in place. install the VPN. Boot up. Update the wireless driver. reboot. Put the Windows 7 ndis.sys in place and it works. Pretty weird.

    Not sure if I understand why though.

    as much as I figured - the driver was replacing the default NDIS driver which then caused your VPN to go stupid....

    Hi Guys,

    Got same problem with bluescreens and ndis.sys but unfortunately I can't rollback NIC drivers (using WDM). Any chance to drop ndis.sys on my PM?
    Hope it will solve situation.

    You may not need to rollback your drivers. just put another ndis.sys in place install the cisco, reboot and replace. try that.

    Hi Dblizz98,

    Hmm, ok so let's try once again.
    1. Can't rollback my drivers, I'm using standard one included with Win7
    2. Where I can find ndis.sys to replace?
    3. When I will install Cisco VPN, after reboot, BSOD appears

    I have the exact same problem with you. I can't roll back my driver as well but from google, I found the ndis.sys file is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

    I was successful with installing Cisco VPN client 5.0.04.0300 on a fresh new install of build 7000.

    At first I failed, getting the NDIS.SYS bluescreen. I went into Repair boot, and reverted to the system state snapshot from before installing VPN, this recovered the computer.

    Then I downloaded 5.0.04.0300 straight from Cisco. I started a CMD prompt as administrator -- press Windows key, type CMD, when search brings up CMD icon in the menu, right click it and Run As Administrator. Using this administrator CMD window I made a backup of the existing NDIS.SYS file -- but I didn't need it!
    Then I used this Admin CMD prompt to start the VPN install. Installed, tested VPN before rebooting, it worked. Then I rebooted, which worked, and tested VPN again -- all OK.
