Completely remove utorrent, first use the normal uninstaller, then go to the search box in the start menu and type %appdata% and hit enter.
In the window that pops up delete the utorrent folder located there.
Then go back to their primary site and download and install the newest version.
    http://www.utorrent.com/

This should solve any issues caused by corrupt files or settings in the program.
you will lose any current download progress though.

Are you connecting through a router?
If so you may want to go to the router settings and enable the NAT feature.
Might clear things up for you.

How do I do that? I am using sky wireless network. I was in the advanced section and changed values. How do I reset figures in preferences to the default?

Configure your Sky Netgear Router's Wireless Settings

there's a discussion on it. For setting it to default they usually have a tiny button on the back you have to press with the bent end of a paperclip or something that will reset factory values.
You should probably look over the thread though.
