    Compatibility issue

I choose to install Windows 7 on one of my computers and i'm having a compatibility issue with a program. The program is called iLinc. I use it to attend my college courses online, it's like a conference call service. The error message that I am getting is this "iLinc was unable to retrieve necessary fiels from the server. (832)

I'm not too sure what this means. I never had this problem with Vista or XP. I've tried the compatibility mode but nothing has worked so far. I have choosen all options (Vista, XP, even 95 just of the hell of it) but nothing works for some reason. When I went to the iLinc web site they have a neat compatibility test and it says that I passed. But the problem is that they tested me for their version 10 and my college is using version 7.7

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

I looked for an iLink configuration guide, but could only find a user guide. Can you provide a link to the support site? I will give it a once over if you do.

iLink support emailed me back and they said that there is no known way to connect to iLink 7.7 with W7. That really sucks becuase now I cannot attend my classes. here is a link to the iLinc support site.

    hey

If we had your system specs we might be able to tell if you computer would run a virtual xp session. that might be a way to run the software

This is a canned response. It means that you were flow-charted out of the queue. If the response said that IE8 was not supported, the response would have more meaning.

    Please provide system specs.

I have an HP dv9000. 1.60 GHz (will not support virtual, so no XP for me) 4 gigs ram, Windows 7 64 bit.

I am reading the iLinc Advanced User Manual. It references IE5, so let's pray.

Step 1. Disbale the Windows Firewall, test, and report back

Also, please tell me exactly what happens from the moment you access the website.
I believe that we are dealing with one of the new security features in IE8, but it is also possible it is at the OS level.

No joy on the firewall. That test page i believe is for iLinc 10 and not 7.7. I have done that test page and passed.
