    Best duplicate detector software

    Hi,

I am looking for a good duplicate detector program. I tried some of softs (duplicate cleaner, Anti-win, ..) but they don't give the same results!
The difference of detection is sometime of ~ 5 Go as duplicated files!

Do you know a duplicate detector program that you used and trust its results?

    Thank you

Hope you're only looking to use one for things like music or picture files, anything else and you run a very high risk of breaking things to the point of having to re-install.

    Thanks for answers.
@pbcopter: I tried Auslogics but didn't like it! There is no feauture to select long/short name as I should, in certain cases, delete files with short or long names.

@stormy13: I would like to delete duplicates of any kind of files; music, video, text, pdf, pictures, *.exe,...etc.
What the risk when deleting files other than music and pictures and why it is risky?

A lot of what may look like duplicates; DLL, exe, etc; may in fact not necessarily be duplicates. It's when you start removing those that you can and will break things. Not so bad if it is a program that breaks and can be easily re-installed, but remove (or try too) anything that is a system file and you're re-installing Windows if you don't have a good backup to go to.

Yes, trusty program is what I am asking for, to avoid such problems.
This kind of programs should present the possibility to ignore system files or files with certain specifications (exe. dll,...). This is a minimum in such programs to avoid systems potential problems.

stormy13 is right....Back in the W98 days I too was intent on finding and deleting ALL duplicates. Had a drive that was under 10GB soooo I installed some Norton cleaner if I remember correctly and had at it! Felt real pleased with myself until the reboot......Need I say more?

Sure, it is a sensitive task that should be done very carefully.
If the duplicate detector is written or configured badly, this may cause problems much more than it resolves.
