Trouble with permissions and moving old .pst files

    Hello everyone,

I'm hoping that someone can save the rest of my hair and help me with a problem I'm having. I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I've put my old HD in an enclosure to use as a backup once I've moved all of the old files off of it.

Here's the problem. I am trying to get my old archive and Outlook files to import into Outlook 2010 (was using Outlook 2003) but everytime I use the "Open Outlook Data File" from the File menu in Outlook and get to where the files are located, it gives me a "you don't have permission to do this.....need administrator access." or something similar.

I have tried everyway I can think of to grant myself permission for those files to the extent that I even turned off the UAC. All to no avail. I tried to rename it but get the permission message.

I've read through the tutuorial on this site and it mentions creating a backup before trying to move it to Windows 7. Does this mean I have to put the HD back in the old box, create a backup and then start again?

    Any help. is appreciated!

    Solution was here:

Outlook PST Data File - Move[2]=File%20Folder%20Settings

The important part that I wasn't doing was having Outlook closed before trying it. Thx to the Tutorial writer!
