    Software lockup

Hello to everyone, this my first post so please forgive any mistakes I may make.

When using ConvertxtoDVD it will do the avi to DVD conversion but when it starts to cache thefiles to burn it locks up the computer and I have turn the computer off. Then restart so that I can get the disk out.

I talked to them at VSO on their forum and so far the only response I get is that it is my OS or some other program interfering with it.

Any suggestion would be appreciated as I have spent a lot of money on this upgrade and software

Well this is just plain odd if you are using the latest version of convertx
I use it myself on occassion and have never had a problem. It was really buggy before version 4, but it's been pretty reliable since then.

There is a freeware app that does the same thing (see link for devede below), the only difference is it creates an image that must be burned. Instead of automating the entire process.

At any rate you may want to give it a shot to see if the problem is just related to convertx or if it's a general burning issue.

make sure you are using a fresh blank disc when your try this. Just to rule out a problem with the disc currently in there being the cause.

Thank you for the suggestion and I will give it a try.

It is just a shame though that I spent money less than a month ago for software that was supposed to be compatible.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

No problem, conversion and burning is a multiple step, multiple function process though.
If you get the same error from devede, we can assume there is a windows or hardware issue causing your problem, and then we can go from there.
I hope devede works for you though. It's a great piece of freeware.

Have decided to convert using ConvertxtoDVD and then burn using Imgburn.

I tried this and it worked fine. Not the result I wanted but will take what I can get.

Thanks for your time and effort.

I would report this to the convertx team even if they don't seem to listen.
The fact you are able to burn with other software means the problem is in their installation.

DeVeDe remains an option for you if you have any further trouble.

Going to try a clean install of WIN7 and ConvertxtoDVD and see what happens.

Will let you know how I get on.

    Cheers for now.

Well seems a bit stubborn to me when there are alternatives to that software, but good luck to you all the same.

I apologise if I seem pigheaded but everyone else seems to get it to work but it won't on my system.

Will reinstall WIN7 and Convertx one last time with clean slate and then go for the alternative if it doesn't want to play.

Thanks for the patience with my idiosynchracies ( bloody mindedness ).
