    Unable to install older software

I am trying to find a way to install an older recipe software that my mom has been using for years, Key Home Gourmet for Windows (1994 Softkey International). She just replaced her computer which had Windows Vista with a new Dell which has Windows 7. She has over 500 recipes backed up on an external drive. I have tried using the compatibility wizards and other compatibility settings but keep getting the same message that "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of window you are running." There are no newer versions of this software. Is there any way to make this work?

It might work in XP Mode. Another method is DosBox. If it won't work at all in 64 bit it's probably a 16 bit app. DosBox may be your best bet.

It does appear to be a 16 bit app. See the first reply on this thread (he may have the 32 bit version, and it was vista).

Yup. Worked on Vista. Not working on W7 64 bit. Since no mention is made of the bitness of Vista and it worked, I'm assuming the Vista was 32 bit. Since the app was written in 1994 I'm assuming it's 16 bit since W95 wasn't out and almost nobody had OS/2. If they did, and they were not a government entity, they didn't buy OS/2 32 bit apps. They ran Dos and Windows apps on it.

In any case it's not likely to run on bare 64 bit metal.
