Free Grammar Checker for W7?
Anyone know of a good free grammar checker for Windows Seven?
I don't have MS Word or MS Office. It would be best if it worked with a plain text editor.

Grammarly looks good.
Best Grammar Checker and Proofreading Software by Grammarly
As does Whitesmoke.
English Grammar Checker Software | WhiteSmoke | World-Leading Language Solutions by WhiteSmoke
WhiteSmoke 2011 - CNET Download.com
And though I've never seen it before, a user review on cnet tells me Ginger Grammar and Spell Checker is decent.

I almost downloaded White Smoke until I saw on Softpedia that it tries to change your search engine and a bunch of other stuff I consider rude.
Grammarly requires MS Office
Ginger costs $100
Also I got on a site with grammar check that was supposed to work with any plain text editor. It said nothing about White Smoke until I hit the download button. Too deceptive for my taste.
Thanks for the suggestions. I used something free back on Win2k but I can't remember what it way. Maybe something from source forge.
Ah, sorry. I'd seen White Smoke numerous times and assumed it was popular. Unfortunately, some software is deceptive and do such things. All we can hope is that the developer is kind enough to tell the truth.
I recommended Grammarly as I've recommended it before and the poster liked it. As for Gingerly, I filtered the download.cnet search for 'grammar checkers' to Free and that's what came up.
I'm sorry I couldn't help more. If I see anything, I'll be sure to drop by and tell you.
May I ask why you don't use Microsoft Office? It's expensive, sure, but there's OpenOffice.org too if you don't want to pay.
Thanks for the response though. I thought After the Deadline was going to work for me. It made good suggestions when editing in a forum editor like this. But, as soon as I hit a wrong key, Whammo!! it all goes away(it was a chrome extension.) Way too unstable. I'll stay with BBCeditor I suppose. Seems solid. I'll just have to attempt short sentences instead of using an "and" or "but" in the middle of them. :)
