I'm having some problems getting Live Messenger to work on the RTM build. I have installed it and when I try to connect I get the error message: We can't sign you into Windows Live Messenger Signing into Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error Code: 80040154 I wanted to try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, however, it doesn't appear in the add/remove programs list and if I simply locate the folder and delete it, it reappears when I restart. Has anybody got any ideas as to how I resolve this? Cheers. :)
    Hey Asym

Its possible that Messenger is down. If not there is a fix here Error: 80040111 or 80040154 - Windows Live If you still need to uninstall, or already have started let me know

First .. fill out your system specs .. help us to help you! Try a system restore to a point before you installed Windows Live, and try downloading the standalone version of MSN Messenger ... let us know if this works, or if we need to look further.

I had the same problem strangely enough, but after a reboot it worked.

Thanks for your response. I have tried both methods listed on that link and im still having the same problem. I know that messenger isn't down because i've tried it on another computer. Any ideas how I can go about uninstalling it if it isn't listed in the add/remove programs list?

I've filled out sys specs now, to the best of my knowledge anyway. The system restore is certainly an idea, it's just that i've installed so much in the last couple of days so it'd be annoying to have to do it all again. As for the old MSN messenger, I really dont want to have to use an outdated messaging client on my shiny new OS. I've now installed Pidgin which is running fine using my windows live account it'd just be handy if I could work out how to get the proper messenger running though.

Try to repair or uninstall and install again...

Look for Windows Live Essentials on the uninstall program list...

There's another option.. download Live essentials run and overwrite the previous installation...

    Essentials - Windows Live

Windows Live Essentials doesn't appear in the add/remove list neither! Looks like it might have to be a system restore job!
