Gigabyte Dynamic Energy Saver
Anyone had problems with this app?
I'm starting to suspect it's causing faults much like overclocked hardware but I've nothing concrete yet.

I had nothing but trouble with that application. For me, it made sound stutter so badly while playing an MP3 from any application that I thought for some time that my brand new machine was broken. I wouldn't install that application again if Gigabyte sponsored me.
Did you manage to find out what it was doing which queered up your PC?
The reason I ask is that I can't seem to pin anything to the program directly. I am running my memory at it's stated speed and as such effectively overclocking and I can run the power saver successfully many times for hours but whenever I've had a problem it seems I've been running that program in the background and the faults could be associated with hardware not getting enough juice.
I wonder whether it causes a delay between demand and supply of power and hence causes errors?
Edit -
Thinking about it I was having problems with sound too. I thought it was a loose connection either in the PCI slot or the cables (I have an external splitter to route the sound to speakers or headset) but I checked the whole lot and nothing. I wonder if this energy saver was causing problems there too?
Solution 1 - update energy saver.
Solution 2 - uninstall and vow never to use again.
I'll post back if I find out anything more, not that I expect you'll be using it again but just in case someone else has similar problems.
Edit 2 -
Okay it looks like I'm using the most current release of the utility. One of the drawbacks of downloading everything when I set up a machine... no new toys to play with for a while...
Time for solution 2 me thinks. Let's hope I can turn of the daft lights too. They're way too bright anyway.

I have ES2 installed on my gigabyte MB. It is an interesting tool. At idle it saves about 50% in energy. However, I was having a problem with system latency. It was hitting between 16k us and 30k us. When I turn Dynamic Energy Saver 2 off my DPC Latency drops down to between 100 us and 450 us.
On my Windows 7 Pro 32 bit system its service had always stopped after a while (usually after a few hours). I didn't install on Windows 7 64 bit, I only use the built-in power saving modes, I made shortcuts for them on the desktop.
