    Windows 7 and Quicken

I have exactly the same problem with Windows 7 and Quicken 2008. It gets stuck on spooling and freezes. Everythine else works, Office etc. Has anyone found a fix on this yet?

To lrthames: thank you so much for this suggestion (using PDF995) to print from Quicken. I actually have Quicken 1999 and QuickBooks Pro 99, which work fine on my Windows 7, except for printing. I just read your solution these many months after you posted it. Your workaround saved me a lot of money and my sanity!

    It works!

The 990c printer works for me with Quicken 2008 Deluxe on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit computer. This thread saved me tons of exasperation and staved off my wife's insistence we buy a new printer! Thanks!

This thread is quite old but I found this worked for my mother in-laws system. W7 64bit, Quicken 2008, HP Printer (don't remember the model)

    Click the Start button.
    Click the "DEVICES AND PRINTERS"
    Hilight your deault printer.
Click on the Tab, "PRINT SERVER PROPERTIES"
    Click on the "ADVANCED" Tab.
    Click on "CHANGE ADVANCED SETTINGS"
    Click "SECURITY" Tab.
    Click "CREATOR OWNER"
Click the box to ALLOW to print.
    Click the "OK" button.
Close all your open windows now and start Quicken.
Open a report and print the report.

Worked for us anyway, I cannot take credit for this fix as it was Win7forMe at the microsoft forums :) So a big huge Thank you to them :)

How to print in Quicken using Windows 7 - 64 bit w/ HP Printers

Workaround: Print from an alternate print driver The following solution allows you to print from the Quicken program by using a default HP Deskjet 990c series print driver. You do not need to have an HP Deskjet 990c product to use this driver. The driver will work for several HP Printer products.
Step one: Determine which port your current HP product uses
    1. From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon. In the Start Search box, type 'control printers ', and then press Enter . The Printers window appears.
    2. Locate the HP product in the list of printers, right-click the HP product, and then click Printer Properties .
    3. Click the Ports tab, and then write down the name of the port that has a check mark in the box beside it. This is the port to which the current HP product is printing.
    4. Click Cancel to close the Properties dialog box.

Step two: Add an HP Deskjet 990c default printer driver
    1. In the Printers window, click Add a printer .
    2. Under Choose a local or network printer , click Add a local printer , and then click Next .
    3. Click Use an existing port , click the down arrow to select the port identified in Step one, and then click Next .
    4. Under Manufacturer , locate and click HP .
    5. Under Printers , locate and click hp deskjet 990c , and then click Next .
    6. In the Printer Name box, change the name of the printer by typing 'Quicken - HP Deskjet 990c '.
    7. If checked, click to remove the check mark from the Set as default printer option, and then click Next .
    8. If prompted about sharing Quicken - HP Deskjet 990c, make the appropriate selection, and then click Next .
    9. Skip the test option by not clicking Print a test page? , and then click Finish .

Step three: Set up the Deskjet 990c to print directly in Quicken
    1. In the Printers window, right-click Quicken - HP Deskjet 990c , and then click Properties .
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click to select Print directly to the printer , and then click OK .

Step four: Print from the Quicken program
    1. Start the Quicken program.
    2. From the File menu, click Printer setup , and then select Quicken - Deskjet 990c .
NOTE: Only select this product when printing from Quicken.
    3. Print a document from Quicken.

Driver for 990c no longer downloadable.

I am trying to get Quicken 2007 to print on my HP2500 series and I am following the directions to load the driver for the HP 990c, but it is not included in my Win7 Home Premium edition. So I went on the HP website to download the driver, found it, but it is not available for download any longer. It is apparently set up to download the driver IF you hook up the 990c to the computer. Since I don't actually have a 990c, is this a dead end for printing Quicken 2007, or is there yet another way around this?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    990c 32 bit?

Being computer illiterate, I have an idea, but it may not fly. My old computer, running XP does have a driver for the 990c in it. Is there some way I could transfer it to the new computer running Win7, or would the 32bit/64bit difference make that not workable?
