Downgrading iTunes without losing iTunes Library.itl???

Is there any way I can do this??

I'm trying to downgrade from iTunes 10.5 to a version that doesn't crash (see my previous thread). However, whenever I do this, I cannot import my Library file (.itl) because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

No, an older version of the iTunes Library file is NOT acceptable, as I have added music since then.

I'm not sure exactly how you use I-tunes.

I use an 8 or 10 year old version (4.9). It works fine on Win 7 SP 1 64-bit. No crashes.

I get new mp3s nearly every day.

The easiest way I have found to add the new mp3s to I-tunes is simply to clear the old library and then re-create it every week or so. I have about 22,000 songs and this process takes about 6 minutes. I just did it yesterday.

Song management is important to me and I do not want I-tunes to do anything "automatically", so I restrict it to playback only. I manually control the library by making a new one with all new songs every week. There might be another way, but it would conflict with my own ideas about file management---I don't want I-tunes involved in that.
