Iconoid 64 bit Install problem

I downloaded the 64 bit port of ICONOID.

Instructions state to simply unpack the RAR into a folder and run Iconoid.exe.

That is not working for me.

Does the folder nee to be in \Program Files or \Program Files (x86)?

    Anyone have a different result/clue?

    TIA.

Update: I unzip the 64 bit RAR to C:\Program Files\Iconoid and run ICONOID.EXE. No problem and no errors. ICONOID appears in the Task Manager Process listing running as a 64 bit process. But the program does not place an Icon n the Taskbar and does not Open to allow changing the settings.

Hmmm.... this is one of my favorite desktop widgets (along with Dave's Quick Search which I have working).

    Anyone - any ideas?

Update: This problem has been duplicated by another user. No known solution yet.

I do hope for one, I like Iconoid's utility.

It's not looking good for the x64 port

    It does not matter:

Where the files are zipped to and run from

If it's run with Compatibilty mode or Run as Admin, or both combined.

    UAC virtualization enabled/disabled

    Show desktop icons enabled/disabled

    Slideshow disabled/enabled

The outcome is always the same. It appears as a running process in task manager with no way to access the GUI, rendering it useless.

As it stands, Iconoid simply does not work with 7100 x64

    UPDATE:

Phil of Highrez modified the 64 bit Iconoid install kit.

I have gotten it to install, configuration menu and system tray icon work. It does require jumping through some hoops.

However, some functions, DO NOT work , including SAVE/RESTORE icon positions.

Apparently anything that writes to the registry have a problem (maybe?)

    So what good is it?

Well what DOES work is what I like most about Iconoid, the "Hide Icons by Cursor Position" function and its timers.

So I am happy having that functionality.

You can read mine and Phil's posts on the issue at Highrez • View topic - Iconoid 64 bit and Windows 7 RC 7100 Install Problem

I only ever used the hide icons and taskbar anyway.

    Good find.

Now listed as compatible with Win7 32 bit.

    Update:

The 64 bit issue is still not resolved but an update on the main Iconoid site states that it is compatible with Win7 32 bit.
