that is your start-menu, and shows your recently/mostly-used programs
your taskbar is along the bottom of the screen...
choose 'remove from list' to get rid of the icon from the start-menu.
when you start using more programs, the list becomes more useful, as it shows the most-used apps.
maybe they will go away if you run more programs?
does anyone know if/where this list is stored in the registry?
i used to know how to do this in xp, but it no longer seems to work now, sorry.
Hello Afgzee,
The pinned items in the Start Menu are located in the hidden system folder below. You should be able to delete it from here to also remove it.
C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu
Start Menu - Pin or Unpin a Program to
Hope this helps,

Thanks. I checked in that folder and there was nothing in there and Safari still wont remove from there. So annoying.
Afgzee,
As a test, turn Recent Programs off and on to see if that may be it.

Turn off recent programs
reboot
turn it back on.
However, if you run Safari a lot, it will make its way back onto the list - the best bet is to pin the programs you want to always show first to the start menu, then turn off recent programs permanently.
