    Ringtone Software

I am looking for some free software that will allow me to load ringtones to my cell phone from my PC. I have found quite a few in Google but it seems most have adware or spyware. Has anyone DL a program that they know is safe.

    Thanks,

I want to transfer some ringtones from my PC to my phone. I have the cable to connect the two. I need to find the software that will do it for me. There are plenty of free programs on the net, but all the ones I have found have adware or "who knows what" in them. I was wondering if anyone had DL a good software that they could recommend.

What phone you are using ? For my Android phone(Xperia X8) I use My Phone Explorer.
Also check in your phone options,to use the phone as Data Transfer.

I sent mine via Bluetooth. Didn't need extra software. I paired the PC and phone then downloaded MP3 files to the phone's ring tone folder. To edit or shorten the MP3 file, I use Audacity. It's free. You'll need the Lame for Audacity plug-in to save MP3 files. Works great.

Sharing files using BT is slow. Throught USB is much faster.. :)

How big are your ring tones?

I didn't have a USB cable for my phone so it was the only choice at the time. Took all of a few seconds each.

So ok,then if we talk just about ringtones(what the thread is for) the should be bigger that 1Mb. :)
But I'm just saying that BT speed is much slower than USB. :)

What format exactly are these "ringtones" on your PC?

Like carwiz posted, I simply upload mp3 files to my phone via Bluetooth. I have a dumbphone (an old 1990s Nokia) so there aren't any fancy interfaces for uploading files through it.

All I do is switch on Bluetooth on both my phone and my laptop, connect them, then use Win7's device browser to open the "downloads" folder on my phone. From there it's simply a matter of dragging mp3 files from my laptop to the phone. No need to install anything at all.

One of these days I really should get around to buying a newer phone that has more than 5MB of storage...
