Bit of a low-tekky here, but I am learning. However i am stumped. I run W7 home premium. I recently purchased the score to a song I am learning from a musician in Englands website. No problem, it came right back as 2 attachments to an email. The file on the right with the pdf logo opened up just fine. The file on the left, which has the Word logo, opened up as shown without showing the musical score, it's just jibberish. I was tempted to email the English chap and have the score sent as a pdf file and not a Word document, but on second thought, it is over my head and I need help. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Be back tomorrow, Rusty. By the by, I am in Canada, if that makes any difference.
Ztruker- thank you kindly for your response. I have a question, tho. This is what I read from the compatibility link...
Microsoft has added the new Office Open XML Formats to the following 2007 Microsoft Office programs and 2010 Microsoft Office programs:
Microsoft Office Excel
Microsoft Office PowerPoint
Microsoft Office Word
A compatibility pack is available to make sure that you can open and save Office Open XML formats in earlier versions of Microsoft Office.
You can install the compatibility pack on a computer that is running Microsoft Office 2003 programs, Microsoft Office XP programs, or Microsoft Office 2000 programs. When you install the compatibility pack, you can open, edit, save, and create files in the robust Office Open XML formats.
Since I am running Windows 7 with Office 2007, will this work for me?
Thanks folks. I had my contact in England re-send the score. This time it had a pdf logo, not the Word logo, and it works. Appreciate your efforts and expertise...
