    How to use spinrite


    I burned the img to cd & booted it up.It shows the program starting then when the screen is black with the blinking white dot on the top left it just stays like that & doesn't go any further.
    It's on my main HDD that has W7 in it.It's 320gb HD.Now I can't boot normally & have startup repair running right now.I hope I can get back into it.Have allot of important files I didn't transfer to my external yet.
    Do I have to uninstall the OS in order to get spinrite to run?I used it once before but it's been awhile & I forgot.
    Laptop is running fine now,whew!Thought I was going to lose everything on it their for a min.

I want to put SpinRite on a bootable flashdrive so I can run it. I want to be able to use the flashdrive with SpinRite on XP & Win 7. Do I create the bootable drive with Fat32 or NTFS? Have looked on line on how to create it but any suggestions would be helpful.
Is there any merit in using Spinrite to "maintain" HDD discs ? This podcast by the "Spinrite" developer makes a lot of sense to me ... or am I missing something ? I would appreciate any informed advice. Thank you :)
