Office 10, Spell Checker doesn't work

    Office 10, Spell Checker doesn't work


    I am using Office 10. I have chcked all the right boxes Etc. for Spell Checker as you type.

    When I type it is supposed to check spelling & grammer, it doesn't!

    I click on the spell checker it ignores what I typed & asked if I want to check the rest of the document

    If I load an old document it immediatly checks the spelling & Grammer.

    If I save the document I just typed & open it, it will not check spelling & Grammer!

    I never had this problem in Office before. What is going on?

    I think Office 10 is a disaster! I don't want to create an "ILUMINATED" Manuscript, I just want to type a simple document & have it check spelling & grammer!

    Hello Tully,

    Try to rebuild "Normal.dotm" file and see if it works.

    Go to Start under search type in %appdata% there go under \Microsoft\Templates folder and rename "Normal.dotm" to "Normal.old"

    If that didn't work then Download OfficeIns and disable all the MS Word add-ins and see if that makes any difference. If nothing works then do a Repair for Office Office 2010 - Perform Repairs

    Spell Checker


    I live in Ireland. I set up my computer to use the following languages,
    1. English UK Entended Keyboard
    2. English Ireland
    3. Ireland, Irish

    After a week of tearing my hair (What's left) I found the the answer! There is no dictionary for Irsh! Should not make any difference when I am not using IRISH!!

    However by deleting the IRISH language the Spell Checker works!!

    I now find out, if a language that does not have a dictionary, is installed, the spell checker will not work!!

    Of all the stupid "Features" provided, the one that would pop up an error for this is missing. "Nice Work Programmers"!!

Spell Checker in IE9?

While using Firefox I discovered that it has a great auto spell check for all web forms (this forum, facebook etc)...when I use IE9 there is no auto spell check. Is there something I should turn on to get spell check on IE9? I already have google tools and spell check turned on but no spell...
