hi johnny nice, and welcome to sevenforums,

photoshop 7? that was released in 2002 i believe.

it may work if you run the installer and the subsequent installed program in xp compatibility mode.

right-click on the installer (then the program) >> compatibility tab >> tick the first box and chose xp

It works OK. I ran Photoshop 7 for quite a while on my Win7-64 system with no problems. I recently switched to V9 (I skip alternate versions) and that runs fine too.

No. I just did a normal install. My single user account has admin. privileges but I don't think this matters.

It would mean spending some more money, but you could use Windows Anytime Upgrade from Home Premium to Professional, and then use Virtual PC to install XP Mode, which will let you install Photoshop 7.

I'm quite surprised BBinard got Photoshop 7 to install on 64-bit.

I thought that Photoshop versions prior to CS2 had 16-bit installer programs that would not run on 64-bit Windows. I know that I was not able to install Photoshop 4.0 on Windows 7 64-bit. I was forced to get a newer version of Photoshop because I did not want to get involved with virtual machines or XP mode.

I think I googled an involved workaround to install old Photoshop versions on 64-bit, but it required 3rd party software that I did not want to use.
