Unable to Delete Folder from Desktop: Access Is Denied?

I had a folder on my Desktop that just won't delete. It was apparently being shared with my Xbox360. I right-clicked it, pressed Delete, and it said it was being shared and if I was sure I wanted to do it anyways. So, of course, I said Yes. It deleted everything within the folder, yet the folder still remained.

I've been having the problem of my Desktop not updating when files/folders are deleted, so I have to manually refresh after a delete to show it gone. Well, the folder decided to stick around. I tried Renaming, Deleting, changing Folder Permissions, CMD's RMDIR, Indexing Options Restart, Reboot of the Computer.....Nothing seems to help.

If I try to open the folder, I get a "Location is Not Available" along with the "Access Is Denied" error. Going to Properties>Security prompts me that I don't have permission to view or edit permission settings. Under Advanced says the same thing and for Owner it says "Unable to Display Current Owner."

I'm running Windows 7 x64 on an Alienware M17x Laptop

I have no idea where else I can possibly go from here. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

(I take it you inadvertently marked this thread as solved.)

Anyway, first 2 things I would try:
    Malwarebytes

Download update and do a complete scan.

The other thing is try Unlocker

Download the 64 bit version of Unlocker.

Before running any anti-malware software try this:

    Take Ownership Shortcut

Performing Take Ownership solves many problems like you reported.
