Window Live Mail and Win 7

Window Live Mail: Occaisionally I save Win Live Email to a folder on my C Drive with the default file extension of "eml". In vista, when I select one of these saved files it quickly opens in Win Live Mail and be easily read. In Win 7 when I try the same, Live Mail opens but the selected "eml" file does not. In the interim, I've resorted to saving these email as "txt" files so I can later open them in a txt editor.

Any ideas on how I can get Win Live Mail to open these saved "eml" docs in Win 7. This works fine in Vista. It seems, but I'm not sure, that I use to be able to do this in Win 7 as well.

What does it do exactly? Does it come up with the dialog about no associated programs for this extension?

Win Live mail opens to my inbox and displays normally; however, the "eml" file does not open. When I do this in vista, Win Live Mail opens the "eml" file and all I see is the "eml" file with the menu bar above it (no inbox etc.)

I don not recieve any file association msgs. I have made sure that Win Live Mail is the default prgm for "eml" files.

I've uploaded 3 JPGs. 1 is from my file folder, a 2nd is what i see in Win 7 after I click on the file in the folder, and the 3rd is what I see in Win Vista after I click on the file in the folder.

Hello Mitaek, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In WLM (Alt+M,Tools, Options), double check to make sure that you have both Make Default buttons clicked on and grayed out. Afterwards, see if it will open your EML file properly with WLM.

    Hope this helps for now,

    Thanks Brink. Still a no-go.

What I have done is download Thunderbird and set it as my default program for "eml" files. This works fine and gives me a good excuse to play with a new e-mail editor. Thanks for the welcome and the feedback.

    Mitaek,

I'm happy to hear that you found a workaround to sort out the problem. :)

Can you be more specific about what you're referring to, pbcopter?
