    Scanning software for win 7?

    Hi,

Any suggestions on a good scanning program Win 7 that automatically size the area being scanned to the size of the scanned object.

    Thanks.

The software you got with the scanner is a good one to use. If you don't have any software then you can use the windows WIA twain driver and software.

I only use the windows WIA twain driver/software for the scanner along with Irfanview for my scans and always get good results.

Thanks for the replay. The software that came with my scanner doesn't resize the scan area to match the scanned object, so that's why I posted this.

    Which scanner do you have?

While scanning, get the preview first and select the area you want to scan with mouse and then do a final scan.

Try Paint > From Camera and Scanner.

I tried VueScan a while back, and I believe that it does auto-resizing. I stopped using it because I couldn't figure out how to make is use the maximum resolution of my HP all-in-one. But that was an older version and the current version may do that.

Be aware that Vuscan's prices are $40 bucks for the basic and $80 bucks for the pro. Pro gives you more features and you get unlimited updates (I've had mine since 2003 and still get free updates), with the basic you just get a year on updates.

You could also try the 30 day trial version.

As to the original question - that feature you're looking for should have been included with the scanner's software. Have you looked at the user's manual?

Have you tried the scanning software that comes with HP scanners? I have used the bundled software that comes with HP scanners and the HP software usually do the automatic selection of the scan area.

Here is the link for software for your deskjet at HP website.

    HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer series - J610

You can download the Full feature software from the above links which includes the HP Precision Scan software.
