Unable to type in Adobe Reader X 10.1

Hi, as said in the title, I have to fill out an application but am unable to type anything inside. Google search didnt get me anywhere (surprisingly). I was just wondering if it's the adobe's problem. I couldnt find older versions of adobe reader either. Someone please help.

    Adobe - Downloads

    Or

Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions
Old Version of Adobe Reader Download - OldApps.com

Or if none of these work, the latest version of Adobe Reader is attatched in this thread, let me know if you want an older version.

    Cheers, Joe.

Depending on the file you might not be able to write to it.....

Functionality - Can I use Reader X to add comments and highlights to a PDF file?

Reader enabled PDF files allow people with Adobe Reader to fill out and save forms, participate in document reviews with the full set of comment and markup tools available in Acrobat, and digitally sign PDF documents.
Also I've seen where some forms will let you write but not save.

Acrobat Reader doesn't allow you type/comment (it IS a reader).
You could type in when the file is in 'Form format' - where there are designated fields visible by a blueish highlight.

You need to have the 'full Acrobat program' to create a form and/or manipulate the pdf document.

This is the first paragraph proceeding that quote....

Reader X is the first version of Reader that enables users to annotate PDF documents with Sticky Notes and Highlighter tools.

I like PDF-XChange Viewer by Tracker Software Products. It has a typewriter function to fill in form blanks. The function is under tools - typewriter. Plus it is also free. Google Tracker Software Products to get it.
