Can I buy a new laptop that has W7 and reinstall XP onto it?

I have alot of old programs that worked on XP computers and won't install into my new Windows 7 laptop. Can I install XP back to my new computer. I am even willing to buy a new laptop just to install back the XP. Please advice what laptop I need to buy and what version of XP home or XP Pro do I need to buy.

I did bought a HP desktop in 2009 that is downgraded to XP Pro. I have the HP Restore Plus! DVD and Operating System CD of XP Pro Service Pack 2 that came with it. Can I buy a new HP W7 laptop and use these two CDs to downgrade to XP Pro?

No need to install XP as a dual boot. You can run a virtual XP machine if your hardware supports it (64 bit usually does)

It seems a shame to buy a new laptop and get rid of Windows 7, which is such a good operating system.

Why don't you just dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows XP, as this tutorial explains.

You could also use XP Mode with Virtual PC, but you would take a performance hit when using XP Mode.

Just upgrade to win 7 Pro, and install XP mode to run those programs,

The only problem nowadays would be drivers. There might not be suitable XP drivers for your new laptop.

Thanks for the reply. I am keeping my W7 laptop, I am more thinking about buying a new laptop to downgrade to XP. The cost of the new laptop is so small compare to the cost of the old program. I actually want to buy a new one so it will last a long time. I will just get harder if I face this two years later and try to buy a XP computer.

I have the Virtual XP, it behave funny sometimes and also the aspect ratio of the graphs is off on one program. A circle became an elipse!!!

They still sell the "Off Least" XP laptop, should I buy one of those instead?

I am even willing to try installing XP onto my few months old HP laptop. My question is how can I save my Bookmarks info so if it fail, I can re-install the W7 and load back the bookmarks.
