    Live Essentials

Have just tried to install live essentials on my netbook, Acer aspire 1. allthough it appears to have installed (shows in programmes & features) it has not activated, there is no icon on the taskbar and the netbook is showing unprotected. I have windows 7 starter edition installed.(Spanish) (it came ready installed). Is there something I can do to activate it, or will not liveessentials work with the starter edition?
    Any help would be appreciated

what do you mean by 'netbook is showing unprotected'?

are we talking about windows live essentials (which includes windows live mail, messenger etc) or microsoft security essentials, which is antivirus software?

ahhh, didnt realise there were 2 (operator error) I thought the live essenstials was everything. including the security side. It is the security part I wanted. So I need to download "security essentials" as well?. I had Norton installed and thinking I was protected by live essentials, I uninstalled it! hence the message I received. Hope that makes sense

    No.

    Not "as well".

    Instead of.

If all you want is Microsoft Security Essentials, you don't need Live Essentials.

Just download Microsoft Security Essentials itself.

Microsoft Security Essentials is the most preferred.

You may download from Download: Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

If you have the 64bit OS, download the enus\amd64\mseinstall.exe (9.7MB).

If your OS is 32 bit, download enus\x86\mseinstall.exe (7.7MB).
