    Visual C++ in Programs Features Safe to Remove?

    I was doing some year end HD cleanup and found three items in Programs and Features pertaining to Visual C ++. As far as I can remember, I never installed anything like that. I migrated from XP on this machine to Win & using the MS transfer tool. Don't remember the name of it but it worked fabulously and might have brought the items over from XP. Who knows?

    The items are:
    Visual C++2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x86
    Visual C++2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x64

    and

    Visual C++ 8.0 Runtime Setup Package x64.

    Can someone tell me if it is safe to remove these three items?

    Thank you very much.

    Nothing to worry about, those files are needed by other programs and are updated by Windows.

    You did not directly install them but most likely the program you are using did install them and they are not hurting anything and most likely are not taking up that much room so it's best to leave them alone.
    I have six of them.
