I have installed free Paragon stuff in earlier years. But each time the product key lasted only for 6 months. Maybe this is different, but I cannot be bothered with this kind of "free" program.

10.5 is either an old copy or fake as the main and literally the only results are from GOTD, I think I might download this, grab the Serial and install the latest copy to see if the Serial Number is still compatible, if not, I will try installing and updating.

Those who do not want the Auto back-up can have a look at Backup and Recovery 2012 Free straight from Paragon Free license software - free backup, partition freeware & data recovery . A compare of the free and paid editions is also available there.

Here no product Key. You will not lose it forever.:)

EDIT: Contrary to what I have stated, you do get a Product Key and Serial number. Please see my later posts.

    Jumanji:

Do you have any personal experience with Backup and Recovery 2012 Free?

Do you know if it requires registration or has a limited lifespan?

It is free just like the Macrium Free. Long back I had installed the free varsion on my friends' computers, made the linux Recovery CD and had given them.

I do not remember whether any registration was required.

Personally I have the licenced version of Paragon Hard Disk Manager 11 Suite with WinPE Recovery Disk. I do my backups and restore running the WinPE ISO from my multiboot pendrive. So I do not bother about the free stuff.

I shall install the free version on my lappie and let you know (may take sometime, since I have a busy day ahead). But sure it is in no way time-limited. It is not a pesky software either.

Edit: I just now checked my Paragon account. The free Paragon Backup & Recovery 2010 Free Advanced (English) is registered and the product key is available there with the download link. Whether registration is compulsory, I am unable to answer right now - poor memory :)

OK, I downloaded the free Paragon Paragon Backup and Recovery 2012 and installed it on my Dell laptop.

In the first step itself, the installer asks you to register. In the registration web page, you are required to put in your name and email id. Within minutes you get the Product Key and Serial Number in your inbox and you may proceed to complete the installation entering these.

Since I already have a Paragon account, the email informed the registration has been noted in my account.

If it is the first time you are installing the software, it may give you a Password to login into your account ( you may change the password later.). Your email id is the User id. You will find your Product Key ,Serial No. and the download link in your account so that you can reinstall the software any time in future, even if you have not preserved your initial download and the email communicating the product key and serial number.

It is definitely an advantage. When I bought my Dell lappie abroad, by the time I received it in the foreign country, I had downloaded the WinPE recovery ISO from my Paragon account on my friend's computer and was ready to take my first day-one image of the complete HDD. While still abroad I screwed up the lappie, cancelling a System Restore (impatient :) ) and the image and the WinPE restore saved me.

Registered one to one email, registered to another e-mail, 10 minutes to register 2 more? :L

Hopefully the SN will still be valid.

1.The product key and serial number for each email id registered will be different. (It is not the same - I have checked it.)

    2. The email from Paragon would also have your log-in id (which is the same email id) and also a password to access your account.

    3. You can access your Paragon account anytime and get the product key and the serial number as well as download the software.

    4. Be sure to access your Paragon account for each email id, and change the password to something which you normally use and/or remember for that email id. Otherwise you have to have the original communication from Paragon for the password.
