Hello Paascal, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might give the free program Desktops a try to see if it may work for you for this. :)

Desktops allows you to organize your applications on up to four virtual desktops. Read email on one, browse the web on the second, and do work in your productivity software on the third, without the clutter of the windows you’re not using. After you configure hotkeys for switching desktops, you can create and switch desktops either by clicking on the tray icon to open a desktop preview and switching window, or by using the hotkeys.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I would have thought the easiest way would be to have two user accounts; one for home and one for work then just set up your icons for each account.

I think Dexpot has the ability to fully customize desktop icons.

Why can't you just create 2 user accounts? And then use the switch user account. That would accomplish what you want with no added cost or difficult setup.
