You must choose Create a new port --> local port, then choose a name

If prompted, do not choose to use the current driver, replace it

I don't know about CS4 but the work around for Acrobat 7 and the PDF printer is to install XP Mode and then install Acrobat in the VM. Acrobat shows up as an app under XP Mode applications. Works great. It might work with CS4 as well.

Need help installing Acrobat 7 "Adobe PDF" printer

I have been using Acrobat 7's pseudo-printer "Adobe PDF" every day and it's an essential part of my work. However, my computer was replaced with a new one running Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) and when I installed Acrobat 7 under Windows 7, I got the error message:
Warning 20225. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item: Adobe PDF Port_Printer. The Adobe PDF Printer may be unavailable. GetLastError: The operation completed successfully.
A Google search led me to this forum, where I found Magius post:

Unfortunately Magius' solution doesn't seem to work for Acrobat 7. When I tried to follow these instructions, I observed:
  1. On the "Use an existing port" pull-down menu, there is no option "Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF)".
  2. The folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat has no subfolder Xtras, and there is no file AdobePDF.inf anywhere in the whole tree C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe or anywhere on the Acrobat 7.0 distribution CD.
So I wonder if there is any way for me to proceed. Is it that Acrobat 7 is "just too old" for Windows 7 ? It has been otherwise quite satisfactory for my needs, and I am on a very limited budget.

The fix does recognize the printer, but I am now not able to delete those files as it claims the file is "open in Adobe.exe" Any ideas how to get there and allow me to delete that fie? Thanks, folks

Were you ever able to fix this problem. I have the same issue. Computer restart does not work either.
