Songbird should do the trick. After installation it prompts for plugin install and there should be an iPod plugin on that list by default. Also it has some nice sound quality. The problem is it eats lots of memory compared to Winamp or WMP.
surely the issue is that ipods wont allow the moving of tunes etc unless its on the pc it was originally conected to. this is to stop people copying the music onto friends computers etc.
there is a way round it here...
