I need a free word processing program

I really need a free word processing program.

I can't afford to buy any software. I'm living on a fixed income now. I know how to use Word and Excel, so something similar would be good. I only would be using it to write letter and make spreadsheet. I don't need and don't want and "tables". I have Open Office but find it difficult to use.

Any suggestions for a free and simple program???

Open Office is really your best bet for spreadsheets.. But for something similar to Word you can use Wordpad which is your All Programs > Accessories. It has many of the same functions as Word.

I would recommend trying out Free office software, Kingsoft office suite free 2012

It greatly resembles Office 2003, so if you're kinda nostalgic about those years, this is perfect.

    Here is another alternative:

    LibreOffice

^ LibreOffice really is just OpenOffice with a different name. So, if you don't like OpenOffice, you likely aren't going to find LibreOffice any more to your liking.

+1 on that, though I was too lazy myself to reply with the exact same thing xD

I realise it's not free, but Microsoft Works is ideal for the home user and at around $40 is a reasonable price too.

Not worth the $40 when the more fully featured open/libre office is free IMO
