How do I fix a Framework problem?

Yesterday when I shut my PC down ( I shut down every night) everything worked fine. Today when I booted up a program I rely heavyliy on wasn't there. I have an Acer Aspire E700 series. It has a program that helps keep the clutter down so things run well. It is called Acer Empowering Technology. I use the eProformance part, the eRecovery I disabled because I no longer use Vista and the eRecovery would try to take it back to factory settings.

Anyway with all that said, I first got the message. "Microsoft. Net Framework 2 is required for this installation" Since I had the setup for the Acer program, I assumed it would have what ever Framework it needed in the setup package. So, I uninstalled the broken program, and tried to reinstall. I did a reboot in between as well. When I went to reinstall it, I got a message I needed to "install Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1 first". I tried to do a system restore hoping that would fix it, but it didn't.
Now I have no clue what I need to do to fix this. Can anyone help?

Really appreciate that. Still haven't figured out what happened with it. Anyway it's back up and running and I'm really grateful
