Anyone Use Nero Burning Rom 11 on Windows 7?
The reason I ask is because I was just going to install it on my computer but then stopped because the installer told me I need to install all this other stuff that is either outdated (Microsoft VC redist, going back to 2005) or irrelevant (Direct3D). I thought Direct3D is used for rendering graphics, why would a dvd burning program need it?
Anyways.. Just wondering If I should install it? Could any of this old stuff screw with or replace newer updates already isntalled? ![]() I want something with a little more control than the native windows burning software, but a "light" version, without all the extra crap like audio/video file conversion, system back-up, etc... just a burner but with lots of fine tuning ability. I have used nero products in the past and have been satisfied for the most crap, but not sure about installing all that stuff its asking for. Any advice/recomendations on whether or not to install, or alternative software? |

I have installed all of them on 7 x64 and working perfectly yet as I aware. dont know much about would this replace or mess up new updates. if you're just unsure about updates, after installation, why don't you run the win update again. And direct3d is necessary for Nero vision I think(currently Nero Video).
about the burner, there is Nero 9 burning ROM that they giving away it for free. isn't it? Or you could try roxio for a better burner with lot of fine tuning facilities. wait for others to give their suggestions on this and you could go and see topten reviews on this matter too. |

Its Okay. I have installed Nero Platinum HD 11 on my laptop and works smoothly. I just disabled all that kind of bloatware like Cover Designer, Sound Trax etc as all I want is to burn my medias.

I looked up nero vision/video and it is video editing software, in that case direct3D would actually make sense, but I'm pretty sure "Nero burning ROM" doesn't include that capability (which is why I chose it) the "burning rom" is supposed to be just that... a burner. Nero offers several different types of software, and if you get something like nero 11 or nero 11 platinum then it is essentially a "suite" that includes all (or most) of there software, so you can do burning/conversion/editing, etc.. but I already have better, stand alone, software for doing the other stuff I need to, so as far as burning goes, I just wanted a burning only software. I'm seeing the same Thing with roxio... probably even more so.

I use Nero 11 on Windows 7 64-bit without any problem. I haven't bothered deleting any of the stuff I don't need from Nero and it doesn't seem to have impacted on performance in any way.

thanks guys... I installed it. the BS old and irrelevant stuff included (no choice). I double checked and according the nero website, the "burning rom 11" program IS in fact a burning software ONLY... no other video editing or conversion capabilities are included which is what i wanted. So I still don't understand why I have to have those old updates, not to mention Graphics rendering stuff? I'm guessing the arrogant SOB's are just preparing for (and therefore assuming) that you will eventually upgrade to there full "suite" software like nero 11 or nero 11 platinum, because there should be no need for all that other stuff to be installed.

Nero Burning Rom : UDF is the standard now? Just wanted to clarify something, last week I was on Windows XP and was using Nero 8 to burn my discs.
