TeraCopy -

TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user with a lot of features:

• Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.
• Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.
• Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skip the file, not terminating the entire transfer.

If the video file is stored in your browser's cache, this utility can help you to extract the video file from the cache and save it for watching it in the future. It automatically scans the entire cache of Internet Explorer and Mozilla-based Web browsers (Including Firefox) and finds all video files that are currently stored in it. It allows you to easily copy the cached video files into another folder for playing/watching them in the future. VirtualBox -

VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Some of the features of VirtualBox are:

• Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox.
• Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers.
• Guest Additions for Windows, Linux and Solaris. VirtualBox has special software that can be installed inside Windows, Linux and Solaris virtual machines to improve performance and make integration much more seamless. Among the features provided by these Guest Additions are mouse pointer integration and arbitrary screen solutions (e.g. by resizing the guest window). There are also guest additions for OS/2 with somewhat reduced functionality.
• Shared folders. Like many other virtualization solutions, for easy data exchange between hosts and guests, VirtualBox allows for declaring certain host directories as "shared folders", which can then be accessed from within virtual machines.

Virtual CloneDrive -

Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive.

WhatInStartup -

I would add CopyTrans Manager. This is an iTunes alternative app (free of course) which I have been using for some time now. Features include:

• add/edit/remove auido/video tracks to any Apple iDevice (I can personally confirm the following for iPod Touch 4G and an iPod Classic)
• add/remove mobile apps to iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch)
• look up track artwork for those with missing covers (also edit the exiting album covers)
• edit all sort of track metadata (artist/album name, star-rating, etc- not sure whether you can edit playcount but it is also shown)
• portable version available to carry around and operate on multiple PCs - indeed both the sizes of the installation and portable versions are minimal compared to an iTunes installation

Copytrans Manager is not a classic PC media player and might not fit to any user's taste but I think it has a clear and quite a simple function: flexibility of managing Apple iDevices in a clean and proper way without the "However-s" that come with iTunes, this is why I would like to see the program listed.


On another note, I just saw that there is another free office suite listed in addition to OpenOffice: Kngsoft? I am currently downloading it and will certainly check out to see how it could beat Open Office.
