They are very much a classroom lecture. I'm not sure they are intended to offer practical solutions.

Yup, I was trying to explain the concept of sandboxing to John :)

I like the Sourcefire security videos, especially the one about how rootkits use Direct Kernel Object Manipulation on the EPROCESS data structure, I'm sure that's how it worked, but might need to watch it again.

grits Blue did next post for sandboxing which is it looked like you were wanting to know about and I think without searching back through again the general consensus was those sorts of programs really are not good.

But it is not detracting from your input far from it it actually helps in a way that new members can see what is actually out there and possibly (I am not saying in your instance) lurking. That is because there are so many who post in here that get themselves into a real mess by using software that plays merry hell with one's machine and OS:)

I guess what intrigued me was that, as seen in my screen shot, on the 1st window it gives so much info in one place. I'm such a slow poke that I have to go into some sort of 'Help' to find all that info individually. Then, probably my misunderstanding of terms, I thought the program also included an inbuilt place (virtual) to test out other programs safely without actually going into my OS.
I didn't take time to view the videos posted by Harry, maybe I should.

Yep grits you tripped on the same loose brick in the pavement like we all have and into the same mindset.

I am as guilty as anyone and in the past have wrecked so many machines by loading this that and and everything because of the lead in stuff that promises to fix every known problem known to computing that one sees on those sorts of sites and programs.

Thankfully I found forums and in particular this one where I found all the knowledge I should have had a long time ago so better leave it at that LOL!!

But at last you asked that is the main thing and didn't take offence at being pulled up about taking on board the advice.:)
