MSN Explorer Premium & Windows 7?

I am running MSN Explorer Premium on my desktop, Vista Enterprise just fine. I am receiving a installation error whenever I attempt to install it on my laptop running Windows 7. Anyone have any ideas why I cannot even install MSN Explorer Premium on Windows 7?

Failing that, I will need to remove Windows 7 from the laptop as I use MSN Explorer Premium as my browser. Can I re-instal Vista over Windows 7 by simply removing/renaming WIN.INI and doing the install? This was a solution with past Windows systems.

    Same issue

I have the same issue, I keep getting an ActiveX error during install. MSN tech support is useless on this issue. It's really pathetic since they are both from Microsoft!

Try installing it with compatibility settings set for Windows Vista SP2.

In regards to re-installing Vista, You'd need to do a clean installation using a disk or flash drive with a copy of Windows Vista on it.

    Tried compatibility modes

Tried all modes available, I finally got past activex problem by lowering the default set internet security. Now it just will not recognize an internet connection to complete install??? Spent 4 hours with MSN tech support...useless.

MSN Explorer Premium & Windows 7?

I cannot believe that Microsoft or someone, anyone does not have the solution to this problem?

Micro Soft, are you planning on making MSN Explorer compatible with Windows 7? If so, when and were is there a test version we can try? Might help in the sale of Windows 7 to have everything that worked on previous Windows systems, work on your latest...

I read somewhere that they plan to fade the MSN Browser away. That may or may not be true but I'm just saying, eventually they will.

Installing MSN Premium in Vista & Win7

First off, MSN Premium Software 9.5 is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and don't let anyone tell you different.

    Try this, it worked quite well for me;

Click Start/Run, type in "regedit" without quotes to open the Registry Editor

    Expand: HKey_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows(Not WindowsNT)/Current Version/Internet Settings/5.0/User Agent

Inside the User Agent Folder is a folder named "Post Platform" Delete this folder and click Yes to the pop-up. Close the Registry Editor.

Now you can install MSN with no problems.

Remember, this is a Registry change, so do so at your own risk and please back it up.

Yeah, I've heard that as well. Seems that MS decided that IE is the browser of the future, and MSN Explorer is going the way of the Roanoke Colonists.

I would recommend switching to, well, anything else. Paying for a browser that I'm pretty sure isn't even officially supported anymore seems ludicrous. No offense.

The post by adamsappleone resolves the MSN Premium on Windows 7 problem. It should be posted all over the web to save a lot of people the aggravation getting it to install/work...Art
