<ASK> Visual C++ '05 and C++ '10 Red. Package installation question

Dear everyone....

again, kungfupanda with question... :cheers:

sorry for the unspecific title, space isn't enough.

So, my laptop has visual C++ 2005 red., and C++ 2005 Red. (x64)

There is this one program and browser i'd like to install that needs visual C++ 2010 redistributable (x64).

1) My question is... how to install the visual C++ 2010 correctly...?

2) Does the two visual C++ ('05 and '10) play along nicely together or should i uninstall the C++ '05 first?

3) If i have to uninstall the C++ 2005, what is the correct way to do it? Is it possible to use Revo (like uninstalling a normal software)? Or is there a specific uninstallation program to do it...? (like removing AV -kavremover, etc-)

4) When installing the visual C++ 2010.... even though the program only needs C++2010 red. package (x64) only,
should i consider installing the 32bit too (Visual C++ 2010 redistributable) to make my laptop run smoothly?

1. Download x64 version from Microsoft Website and double click it's icon to run the installer.

2. No need to uninstall, since those are not interchangable. 2010 version does NOT include parts of 2005. Older programs might required only 2005 version.

3. In this case "Control Panel - Programs and Features - Delete" should be fine if you want to go that way.

4. I think you should go for x64 only version. Ff software was created with modern version of Visual C++ 2010, most likely this software exists in x64 version too. Thus no need to use x86 version.

As I mentioned in second paragraph of my previos post, THERE IS NO NEED to uninstall 2005 redistributable.
I does not come as part of Windows. So, if it is there, thus one of the programs you installed requires it.
I suggest you to keep it, since it won't interfere with 2010 version anyway.
