    Joining Video Files in Win7

I'm looking to join a bunch of avi files into a single file, they have VBR audio.

Does anyone know of a program that works well in Win7.

    TIA

Tried that - unfortunately the video and audio get out of sync in the final file.

Well then it is the file(s) to blame, not the VDub. What you can do is join them in the program, then save the audio to a .wav file. Then save the video using direct stream copy with no audio to .avi. You can now use a sound editor to either stretch the audio starting where it goes out of sync, or instead, add or remove time to accomplish the same thing. It all depends on if it goes out of sync gradually or at one instant, it becomes off by the same length throughout the rest of the file.

I recommend Sound Forge 9.0e because you can open the video and audio as separate and see what's going on as you edit.

Post back if you need any help. Good luck.

You could also try first removing a tiny bit from the beginning of the 5th vid before joining, using direct stream copy for both audio and video. The add all as you tried. Maybe that will make a completely synced file. Good chances.

do your avi files have different video framerates?

Multiple framerate is possible in avi, but can be a bit tricky, may be the program you used doesn't handle that well.

Check the videos with MediaInfo. If the videos are compatible for appending you can use VirtualDub or AviDemux. If you have a whole bunch of clips Dub has built in support for chaining sequentially numbered clips. But there's a script to do the same thing for AviDemux if you can google for it.

For 2 or 3 clips AviDemux is simple to do by hand. Open first file, then use Append from the File menu.

If the clips vary in their characteristics then you'd have to use some kind of batch tool to homogenize them.

    Thanks for the replies.
Eventually made it work with VirtualDubMod, seems it handles the variable bit rate in the audio part better when appending the video.
