    Hi again,

    Try this:-

Check your IE settings first for 'scripting'
    Click "Tools"
    Click "Internet Options."
    Click "Security" tab.
    Click "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Script ActiveX.controls marked safe for scripting"- enable
Scroll down to "Scripting - Active scripting" - enable
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" - enable
    Click OK
    Click OK
    Restart IE

this is not a soloution but a good workaround, install and sign up for a free trillian account and add yahoo messenger as an account ,
you will have all your contacts and email notifier, the beauty of trillian is that if you have windows live messenger ,google talk ,yahoo messenger , facebook chat etc you can view them all and Im from trillian, it shows a pop up when a contact signs on, posts a new update etc, once i used trillian i never went back, it signs you in to all your accounts and monitors your mail, it even shows a small preview of the emails when you hover on them.
trust me its worth a try.
