iTunes 8 x64 Showing All Songs 3x
I backed up all my songs from my XP (saved locally on my laptop HD) then restored them once I installed windows 7 (again saved locally in My Music folder "C:\Users\Chris\Music"). I download and installed iTunes 8.2.1.6 x64, after I installed and launched iTunes it automatically found all my music in the folder and processed and added all tracks, and even managed to know my old playlists from the itunes on XP (about 130 GBs of music). So while it was doing its thing I took a nap, when I woke up it had finished, but it shows each track 3 times!!! It's saying I have 341 GBs of music, but that's not even possible since my HD is 320GB.
I just realized my external was stilled plugged in and iTunes decided to add my backed up tracks on there was well without asking me... But here's the strange part. When I check the file locations of the songs, one will say "C:\Users\Chris\Music\..." (laptop HD), OK
another will say, "F:\My Music\..." (the external), OK
and the third says "C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\My Documents\My Music\..." (the directory from the old XP install!!! wtf ) And the tracks still play from that directory, but if I try to access that folder in the explorer is says "It is not accessible, access is denied". I did a clean install over XP too.
I'm a little bit confused right now...
Edit: Okay so I just deleted the iTunes Library file that was located in My Music and I am re-adding the music to iTunes manually (File>add folder to library>My Music). I guess the old library file from XP was being used and Windows 7 know to re-route the old C:\Document and Settings\User\My Documents\My Music to the new directories in 7 being used? I'll let you guys know how this goes.
