Sounds good, but since I already have MS Office 2007, I guess I don't need it. Will it do something that mine won't?

I too have Office 2007 which is good for 3 users/partitions and am currently dual booting Win 7 & 8 on 2 computers which leaves me a partition without an office program.

I had just downloaded and installed yesterday on my win 8 partition but haven't really test driven it. I have also read reviews that it is comparable to open office.

Also the interface resembles that of office 2003 but may be a good substitute for those that cannot afford MS office.

    IownAmoneyPit,

I appreciate your post. SoftMake Office 2008 looks like a good alternative to those not using MS Office.

However, I am a bit confused. Recently I posted concerning a limited time offer of a very well-known software and it was considered a violation of rules by the forum monitors.

Please don't misunderstand my meaning here; I am NOT attempting to do anything but get an understanding of what is and what is not considered advertising.

Looks good. You have stated pre Office 2010. Does this mean that it shall not read files in docx format? Normally it should, because Office 2007 can read them but I just want to make sure before downloading.

Since I don't know anything about your experience myself, I can't make any direct reference, but since you used the word advertising, which suggests a paid product, I would suspect that is the reason for your problem.

There is no rule against mentioning a paid product, that is done often. However, good deal or not, posting a link to such a promotion is in fact acting on behalf of the owners of the product. Consider this response just an educated guess.

@C32C3 as stated in original post only the 2008 version is free it just requires reregistration and activation like MS office.

@wanchoo I added the formats this software can work with to original post.
