btw, never found anything in the minidump. i opened it in explorer. could the file have been hidden? there doesn't seem to be a minidump folder now. Does windows create it when there is a crash? i guess i let that file get lost. well, maybe i'll be lucky enough to have a similar crash...
My bad. It is hidden. you need to show all files and folders. You can right click on the folder and see how big it is. each dump should be larger than 30k

you do have a way of challenging my skills, tgs...
i haven't adjusted the monitor, other than to up it's resolution. i can't find any information on what hz it's running at - the monitor's own control panel doesn't have that as a variable, nor does the nvidia control panel. so if 60hz is standard, i imagine that is what it's running at. anyhow, if it was a problem with the hz rate of the monitor, wouldn't that screw up brushes in all programs?

the monitor is kind of old - it's a crt. i'm waiting til there is a flat panel that is larger and higher resolution than my good ol' crt before i switch.
