Problems with wireless network, Windows 7 x32, Updates etc

    Windows 7 Professional
    Dell Latitude E5420M

    Help me, seriously.

Laptop suddenly doesn’t detect any wireless network connections (other laptops in the household can access wireless internet though), there is only a big red X in the bottom-right of the taskbar. I tried going to the services.msc where I can turn it on and off, but there comes an error (error code 87). Also I’ve tried to reboot and turn it on and off from the wifi button – nothing.

Haven’t installed anything new. One update was done but that was taken back.
When I turned on my laptop, I saw Windows notificiation in the bottom-right of my taskbar. It states that I have 1 security issue – I need to turn on Windows firewall. When I click ’Turn on Windows firewall (Important)’, a new error comes up saying ’Action Center can’t turn on Windows firewall’. When I click ’Turn Windows firewall on manually’, and then ’use recommended settings’, nothing happens. I get the spinning wheel but nothing seems to happen after the wheel goes away.

Other notification I get that I need to change settings of Windows Update, but the case is the same – the wheel circles but nothing happens.

Virus scans are done, different ones but nothing was detected.

On final note, laptop hasn't fallen down. But there was a bit time ago a problem where my battery suddenly died (even though it was still new) and I may suspect it had something to do with different electrical systems as I recently moved to UK where I have to use additional plugs.

Lets start here. Does still still happen?

Does this happen when you attempt to open services.msc ?

The error pops up every single time I try to start the service.

Thank you for the file but nothing was detected. 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.'

    Any other suggestions?

Another fact that I remembered: Ever since the internet connections disappeared, the laptop takes a visibly longer time to start up.

Uninstall the Network adapter your using in Device Manager, KEEP the drivers then reboot. You will have to reinsert your password when found new Network shows.

I'm sorry, but how I uninstall while safely keeping the drivers?

I maybe put various problems into one. I did netsh winsock reset and it helped.
I feel so relieved - could have never thought how much I relied on the Internet.

Thank you for your time and help ^^
