    Compatability Mode

Hi, i am trying to get some games to run (Bigfish Games) for my mother in law, who now has Windows 7. But i am having issues, even though i am telling it to run as Windows XP or Windows Vista in the compatability options its still saying (when i start the game) Windows 98 SE or Later editions needed to play this game (Or words to that nature) Are there any patches for this?

I am using Windows 7 Professional Retail.

    Many thanks.

Hi Lodestone, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums. I hope your m-i-l enjoys using Windows 7 as much as I have. Been using it as my main OS since January.

I looked at the Bigfish website and noticed that they have discontinued support for Windows 98, so it is odd that Windows 7 responds the way you describe. The website indicates its software is Vista compatible so if you have followed their installation instructions/suggestions, the games should work in 7 as well. What happens when you try to install a game without using compatibility mode?

I look forward to your next post!

    Cheers

    Robert

Hi, Well it installs correctly as it should do, but when we try to run them they give us that error. Although they are the older games from big fish that are not working. But they worked fine in Vista.

    Many thanks

I wil suggest you to when you go to install the game on 7,right click on the game launcher or setup and choose, properties and compatibility check the box where says {windows xp {service pack 3}and change to {windows vista}compatibility and try to install it on this mode,i had 1 or 2 programs with the same problem and i got them to work fine on 7 rtm ultimate.
this is just an suggestion to try to help you maate.
    Good luck.
