Windows 7: Google Earth On WIN 7-64bit Sucks 100% CPU

01 Sep 2009   #11

Windows 10 Pro x64 x3, Ubuntu

This may illustrate the issue better

Load obtained by spinning the globe in GE at opening zoom

OpenGL Rendering Mode

PC spec is the one in my specs :) could be related to basic graphics set-up but as I said it's manageable for me

win 7

I did have GE OPEN when I took the CPU Performance screenshot, BUT I was not USING it. The CPU use eventually drops to near zero when I don't use it.

I tried to take a snippet while using GE, but since the CPU instantly goes to 100% the snippet tool would not work. Therein lies the problem. When using GE CPU immediately goes to 100% and is it is so slow to render sceens, (but does not crash the system.)

Yeah, that is what I was pointing out - either it ain't running or it ain't taking up 100% of the CPU.

It sucks nearly 100% of my CPU and is very very very slow.
On the exact same computer with WIN XP SP3, Google Earth ver 5 works just fine.

Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

[AMD 64bit 3200+ CPU with 2 gig memory]
1st = you must the latest version of your device video
2nd = you must download activex complete (566 MB app) DXSDK_aug09
