Hi there I have just opened ms config and noticed there is not a version of windows running there.

here is a image depicting what I mean. Now my Husband has again been playing around after many times of him messing my system up.

How can i rectify this with or with out re-installing windows 7 again.

    Any help would be grateful

Try checking the box next to "OS boot information". You may have to close then re-open msconfig for it to take effect. Not sure if this will show the OS under boot tab or just show everything that's booting on startup splash screen.

Could also try running System File Checker scan from elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

Hi and thank you for your response in this matter. I open msconfig and in the general tab clicked selective start up, ticking boxes load system services and use original boot configuration. Then went into the boot tab and two versions of windows showed one as default and one on a partitioned drive, which doesn't exist anymore.

I am going to run sfc scans and will post back results.

    again thank you

I have had to re-install windows as it was the only way I could solve it. Basically forced into it as on boot up machine kept saying boot manager is missing press control, alt, delete. I couldn't even repair it so was forced into a re-install as my Hubby deleted my back ups. He is now banned from even looking at my pc as every time he messes with it i have to come here and ask how to fix it.

    Thanks again

Oh my. Sounds like you need a full time to keep hubby in line. Sorry you had to go through the added inconvenience to re-install. Hope the remainder of the weekend was better.
