Flash and Java not working in Windows 7 on any browser

I've had this laptop a little less than a year. I had no problems until about three or four months after buying it. I only ever use Firefox, and would always keep it and other programs such as Flash and Java up to date. One day, some websites just quit working, like facebook, youtube, netflix, and various game sites. This problem continued for a few weeks, and I didn't do anything to try and problem solve it. Then everything seemed to magically fix itself, so I figured that an automatic update had done the trick. However, a few months ago those problems started again and since then I have read many threads on how to fix them, uninstalled and reinstalled FF, Java and Flash countless times, including past versions of all of them. I even tried using IE and Chrome, but I had the same problems with those browsers. As of right now, I cannot view flash based game sites (such as omgpop). I used to not be able to play games on facebook, but as of yesterday those suddenly work again. I cannot watch streaming videos on netflix, but youtube works fine. I cannot view content on many web pages (for example google images does not work at all, nor does googlemaps or mapquest). Some pages only load partially even though it says they are 'done'. I often see 'javascript:void(0)' on websites. Currently I am running the current versions of Java and Flash and FF 3.6. I have checked pop up blockers and script enabling and just about everything else. I am at a total loss of what to do. (Even as I am typing this, I cannot click on any of the text editing tools or smilies and this is showing up as one big paragraph...)

Welcome to Seven Forums Onieo. You have an odd problem indeed. Since it isn't browser specific, or even program specific (both Java and Flash), it would appear to be windows related. I would start with the System File Checker

If others have no suggestions to follow, as a last resort a Repair install may be in order

Thanks for the suggestion A Guy. I did several system scans this morning but each time it found no problems (I forget the exact wording that was used).

Also although this isn't browser specific I notice your using an older version of firefox, Maybe worth updating that.

Thanks as well, danny. I went ahead and updated Firefox to v.3.6.23. Perhaps I should mention that when I started having these problems again, I was using Firefox 4. I thought it might have something to do with compatibility with past releases of Flash, so I went back to 3.
I also uninstalled both Java and Flash (through the links you suggested). I then only reinstalled the lastest version of Flash, which I tried to do from the Adobe site, but nothing happened when I clicked the download button (this has happened many times). Even though Flash is installed, some sites still say I need to download flash. I have yet to reinstall Java...

I can't understand if you removed flash, tried to download but nothing happened, how it can be installed on your machine.Remember IE flash player is different from firefox (which is a plug-in version) and chrome (which comes with the browser) Its explained more in the link above.

Is your PC clean.Try running a virus and malware scan.

I meant to say that I had downloaded flash from another source since the adobe site doesn't work for me. I clicked your link for the FF 7, but there is no option to download (just the 'tour', 'desktop', 'mobile', etc links that are usually at the bottom of the page). I took a screencap so you could see what I am seeing, but I am unable to attach it as a file to this post and I cannot use any sort of online image upload site... because none of them are working for me. :/ This is quite frustrating.
I did two scans this morning (CA and Malwarebytes) and they came up clean.

but i am experiencing the excact same problems.
Did you ever find a fix for this or did you learn to live with the hazzle of not being able to use your computer to the fullest of it capacity?

Right down to the nob actually, so is it really necessary to start a new thread?
On most other forums I know it's preferred to have as few threads as possible ongoing, but this may not be the case here... I do understand that. :)
