If it's any help I have Epson Stylus C88+ printer and the W7 will not serve the driver over the network correctly. When I install the printer on W7 it gives a file folder icon instead of a printer. W7 would pull the driver from the server ok if the server was XP or Vista. I think there may be some common denominator esp. if the driver is loaded by hot plugging.

I even tried booting to XP, getting the client machine to print, then booting back to W7 on the server. That works until power down. Once you power up again the printer wants to hot plug the driver. Does your equipment have a driver download? On my model there's no driver download from Epson. You have to hot plug to get anything after XP.

    im using a CX5500 all-in-one printer.
    and there's a scanner too.

basically, the printer side of this all-in-one does not have any driver issues and everything is fine. (over the network is fine too)
the problem lies in the SCANNER side.

i am able to get the scanner working by using photoshop cs4, windows fax and scan or any import utility that is part of TWAIN.

the problem im encountering now is that the program called "EPSON Scan" is unable to run and im unable to use this program for scanning. i am used to this program because it allows me to scan faster and there's also more configuration.

yes, i can import pictures from the scanner but i want to use the software from EPSON itself and not the windows import utility.

I've got the same problem with the scanner part of my Epson RX585.
Printer works, but not the scanner.

Please note that there is a 64bit version of Epson scan available on their website - if not already tried this may solve the issues you are having

The only solution may be to boot an OS that will work with it. A lot of USB manufacturers just want you to buy a new device even though the one you have works. They just don't write a new driver and they call the gizmo "end of life cycle" iow, buy a new TV so your vcr will work.

well I do dual boot with Vista x64.
the problem does not lie in drivers actually, it's solely the software.

If they don't even update the driver they're not likely to update the freebie included software. I think you're hosed.

OK, I managed to solve this problem.

After beating around the bush, it's bascially driver problem. The scanner driver wasnt installed and windows 7 uses it's own driver, causing the software unable to run.

To solve this problem, just install the driver through device manager by using the one provided by EPSON.
